Chichester Music Society: Paul Guinery, and autumn highlights

We are delighted to announce a lecture-recital by Paul Guinery on Tuesday September 13th at 7.30pm.

Paul studied Piano at the Royal College of Music and then English languages at Queen’s College Oxford. He has recorded solo Rachmaninov works and twentieth-century English music “Delius and his Circle” and is the author of “Delius and his Music.”

As a BBC3 announcer, he has presented classical programmes including the Proms. Paul also has a very special interest in light English music of the early 20th century and that is the topic of his lecture-recital. He expresses the opinion that this music is often underrated and his illustrated lecture recital promises to be thoroughly entertaining.

Autumn highlights

Our autumn season (beginning on 13th September) has something for everyone. We have an additional lecture/recital on the 4th October when Continuum returns, this time as a quartet, playing the music of J S Bach and his sons. On October 18th there is a performance by the world-renowned Rosamunde Piano Trio playing wonderful music by Schubert & Tchaikovsky, and in November a performance by The University Chamber Orchestra featuring the baroque trumpets purchased by CMS a couple of years ago (including Handle’s Water Music).
