Celebrating a new relationship with one of the world’s foremost piano competitions, the Leeds International Piano Competition, the Petworth appearance of the 2021 competition winner, 24-year-old Kazhakstani Alim Beisembayev is clearly as exciting as any in recent years given the career trajectory his Leeds victory has set him on (Saturday 29 July).

The piano will also feature in a number of different guises across the festival fortnight of 13 to 30 July 2022:

• Concerts featuring the best-loved classical piano repertoire by two major international artists, Piers Lane and Steven Osborne.

• Appearances by a cohort of top-drawer accompanists: Iain Burnside, Martin Roscoe, Huw Watkins, Roland Pöntinen and Charles Owen. Otherwise, top accompanist and musical communicator Iain Burnside appears in two concerts with Dmitry and Julia Sitkovetsky and Tim Hugh (Tuesday 19 July), and Michael Foyle and Tim Hugh (Tuesday 26 July); Martin Roscoe appears with violinist Tai Murray (Friday 19 July); Huw Watkins appears with cellist Natalie Clein (Wednesday 20 July); Roland Pöntinen appears with international superstar trombonist Christian Lindberg (Sunday 24 July); Charles Owen appears with Swedish prodigy violinist Johan Dalene (Saturday 30 July) and stunning jazz pianist Alex Webb heads up Vimala Rowe’s Band as she performs the music of the legendary Billie Holiday.
