Laura Rossi: Voices of Remembrance
Karl Jenkins: The Armed Man

Conductor: Crispin Ward

Two works by contemporary composers responding to the horrors of war. Laura Rossi through her research for the film score to The Battle of the Somme and from her uncle’s diaries has produced an emotive score using words of poets, written during World War 1. Jenkin’s. The Armed Man charts the descent into war ending in the Benedictus and Better is Peace.
