Beethoven Quartet in F major Op. 18 no 1
Schubert Quartet in G major D887
The Esme Quartet have been praised for their warm sound, hyper-sensitive ensemble, and powerful stage presence.
The Quartet was formed in 2016 at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne, by four young Korean musicians who had already been friends for a number of years sharing common interests and passions in music, the arts, and life. After working together as a quartet for a trial period they were awarded the first prize in the annual internal Hochschule Köln’s Chamber Music Competition. Since then, they have had many successes including first prize at the London Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition 2018, as well as prizes at Proquartet, and the Esterhazy Foundation.
Their concert in Chichester is part of the Wigmore Hall International Competition winners’ tour of the UK, awarded to them as part of their prize.
