Julia Bishop is a violinist who specialises in Baroque music. She played in the English Concert for six years and co-founded Red Priest, a group named after Vivaldi, the prolific Venetian composer. She has also been with the Hanover Band, taught Baroque violin technique at the Royal Academy of Music in London and led the Gabrieli Consort and Players. She is a tutor at Chichester University.
In this concert Julia will provide an introduction to the origins of the baroque violin, which she has entitled “The Devil’s instrument”, including works by Bach, Telemann and Biber.
