Sibelius – Karelia Suite
Dvorak – Symphony No. 8
Written at a time of nationalistic fervour, the Karelia Suite is a striking example of Sibelius’ style of composition and was his first major triumph. It remains a concert favourite.
Equally popular is Dvorak’s Symphony no. 8; written in the seclusion of the countryside it is bucolic, idyllic and vibrant.
