The concert is one of a series being put on by Holy Trinity Church to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the building of the organ there by the Duke of Chandos, when Handel was his organist in residence. The organ was restored in 2012 with the aid of a Heritage Lottery Grant, but always needs maintenance, and so the concert proceeds will go to the church Organ Fund.
As part of the celebration, the choir’s Accompanist Nigel Smith will be performing an organ solo from Handel’s great repertoire.
The concert will also be a celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the formation of the choir, and so it will be well attended by past and present members and supporters, together with the Chief Constable of Hampshire and the Mayor of Gosport.
The choir will be performing repertoire reflecting the choir’s history and will be on top form, two young soloists will also be involved, thus the audience will be guaranteed a memorable evening in a wonderful setting.
