Sir Patrick Moore CBE was known for his record breaking broadcasting and passion for all things space & science. Lesser known is Patrick’s passion for composing music. Music archivist, Christopher Beaumont, is uncovering a much wider range of music output from the late British icon. Christopher was inspired by Patrick to teach himself the xylophone in 2007, turning professional in July 2011. Alongside Patrick’s material, Chris plays music from all genres, arranging it all himself as necessary.
This concert will feature music by Sir Patrick, along with short popular light works from a variety of composers. Premiers of new arrangements will be included, including Scenes from Childhood (Robert Schumann), and the Gnossienne collection (Erik Satie). Chris will be accompanied by the Yorkshire pianist Peter Rhodes.
