Every third Monday of the month a lunchtime recital is held from 1 pm to 1.30 pm, which usually comprises great music played on Handel’s historic organ.
John is organist at Christ Church, Worthing.
After 33 years as organist at St. George’s, Worthing, John Collins took up a similar post at Christ Church, Worthing in June 2017.
He is widely known internationally as a specialist in the early keyboard repertoire with particular research interests in the English, Iberian and Italian repertoires.
He is a regular reviewer of CDs and scores for several English and American Journals, for which his articles on composers and performance practice are widely appreciated; he is also a reviewer and a lecture/recitalist for BIOS.
Apart from giving recitals he is very busy as a translator from and into Spanish and Portuguese (both the European and Brazilian forms), recent translations including prefaces for important new editions of de Cabezón and Cabanilles as well as translating dissertations on Portuguese and Spanish composers. He is active as an editor, writing the introductory notes on the pieces and performance practice for editions of 18th century English organ music for Fitzjohn Music.
