An award-winning team of leading UK artists: pianist/composer Kate Williams and vocalist/lyricist Georgia Mancio perform a collection of songs, old and newly co-written, for jazz trio, string quartet and voice, linked by the concept of home. The programme includes works from the American Songbook, Chile and Brazil, as well as an original trilogy inspired by true stories of refugees leaving their homes and making the often dangerous journeys across Europe. (Georgia volunteered in the Calais refugee camp “The Jungle” between 2015 and 2016, meeting residents and NGO charities).

Other facets of ‘home’ include the natural world, and stories of love, loss and hope, ranging from the local to the global but always with a personal resonance.

Kate Williams has gained a distinctive reputation as both a writer and performer having worked with Chris Biscoe, Stan Sulzmann, Julian Siegel, Pete Hurt Jazz Orchestra and the late Bobby Wellins as well as leading various ensembles of her own, the most recent being Four Plus Three, a collaboration between her trio and the Guastalla Quartet.

“…crisp, incisive and totally at one with the rhythmic ebb and flow.”

“Williams has a quality rare among jazz composers: a musical vocabulary that’s all her own”

The Observer ****

Award-winning jazz vocalist Georgia Mancio’s credits include Bobby McFerrin, Ian Shaw, Liane Carroll and her own festivals Revoice! and Hang, and dates across Europe and the US with songwriting partner and Grammy winner Alan Broadbent.

“[Mancio] has everything covered – technical mastery, expressive range and a remarkable versatility” The Observer****

“Impossible not to fall in love with her voice…a magnificent example of strength and talent” Jazz In Europe
