A full concert performance of the opera Acis and Galatea by G.F.Handel. Orbita Baroque combine with the University of Chichester Conservatoire to perform one of Handel’s best-loved opera, conducted by John Hancorn.
The music critic Stanley Sadie considered Acis and Galatea “The greatest pastoral opera ever composed,” so the venue on the University’s Festival Field below the South Downs is the perfect venue to experience the nymphs and shepherds.
The concert will be under the Giant Festival Canopy with the audience on the University’s Festival Field and no seating is provided; so bring your picnic rugs, protection from the elements even camping chairs too if you wish. A licenced bar is also available.
