A fantastic catch for the Petworth Festival, Mitsuko Uchida is one of the most revered artists of our time, known as a peerless interpreter of the piano works of Mozart, Schubert, Schumann and Beethoven, as well for being a devotee of the music of Alban Berg, Arnold Schoenberg, Anton Webern, and György Kurtág. She enjoys close relationships with all the world’s most leading orchestras, whilst conductors she has worked closely with include Bernard Haitink, Sir Simon Rattle, Riccardo Muti, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Vladimir Jurowski, Andris Nelsons, Gustavo Dudamel, and Mariss Jansons.
Please note that the originally advertised programme has been changed. The revised programme features two major works by the Viennese master, Franz Schubert, including the Sonata hailed by Robert Schumann as being Schubert’s “most perfect in form and conception,” the G Major Sonata D.894.
