Born in Moscow, Angelina Kopyrina began playing the piano at the age of 5, giving her first recital a year later. She was then accepted at the Central Music School held at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory where she studied with Valery Piassetski. At 14, Angelina performed Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2 with Yaroslavl Philharmonic Orchestra in Yaroslavl and won second prize at the 4th International Nikolai Rubenstein piano competition in Paris, France.
Angelina studied at Trinity College for her undergraduate and performed as a soloist in London at Barbican Hall as well as St Martin in the Fields. She returned to Moscow where she studied her Masters at Gnessin Academy under Vladimir Tropp as well as acting as his assistant. Angelina gave concerts at the Big and Small Halls at Moscow Conservatory, Rachmaninov’s Hall, Moscow Philharmonic Hall, Sviatoslav Richter Museum and Gnessin’s Academy Big Hall. In September, Angelina gave her debut recital at the Turner Sims, Southampton.
Angelina is studying Rachmaninov’s Piano sonatas: author’s editions; challenges of interpretation as the subject of her PhD at the University of Chichester.
