Portsmouth Chamber Music Series 2020-21

Fenella Humphreys violin, Rosalind Ventris viola, Cara Berridge cello
SCHUBERT String Trio in B-flat, D. 471
ADRIAN SUTTON Spring Masque for violin and viola
SIBELIUS String Trio in G minor
MARTINŮ Duo No. 1 for Violin & Cello, H. 157
MOZART Divertimento in E-flat, K. 563

The word Divertimento usually implies something light‐hearted, even frivolous, but this Mozart work is perhaps the most sublime of all his chamber pieces. Leading up to this we have an intriguing mixture of lesser-known trios by famous composers, and two duo rarities. Adrian Sutton is better known for a string of commissions for the National Theatre, including War Horse, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night‐time, and, most recently, Angels in America.

Book all five concerts in the series and get a 20% discount, so £72 for the whole season (£64 concs). Prices include booking fee and restoration levy. Seating is unreserved, with doors open from 7pm. See for Covid-safety procedures at the Guildhall.
