Celebrated as one of the most exciting young orchestras to emerge in recent years, The Multi-Story Orchestra opens our Festivities Programme with an exciting concert featuring pupils from The Portsmouth Grammar School, and local primary schools. In 2016, Multi-Story’s work was recognised with a Royal Philharmonic Society award for its ingenuity, and as “a model which can be replicated to create new audiences for classical music around the UK.”

Delighting audiences for nine years, the orchestra comprises talented freelance musicians from all over the UK. Their programme includes Mozart’s Overture to the Marriage of Figaro and Debussy’s sensual Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune. Local school students will take part in a performance of Ki Ki Ri Ku and, since no performance of this piece is ever the same, the audience will be witnessing a world premiere!
