The Pelléas Ensemble – Henry Roberts (flute), Luba Tunnicliffe (viola) and Oliver Wass (harp) – perform a programme that combines music written for these instruments with works transcribed for them from very different scoring, casting an often-revelatory light on the originals.

The concert will include two works scored for flute, viola and harp by their composers: Bax (Elegaic Trio) and the contemporary English composer Richard Bissell (Twisted Elegy).

For the other two works in the concert, it will be fascinating to discover how the piano writing in Ravel’s Tombeau de Couperin translates into this trio of instruments, as it will with a Couperin trio sonata, an easily-imagined transition from the familiar Baroque chamber grouping.
