The University Choir marks the centenary of the birth of the great American composer, conductor and educator, Leonard Bernstein, with a performance of his Chichester Psalms.

Bernstein’s setting of the psalm texts in Hebrew is beautiful, tuneful, energetic and modernistic. It is performed alongside a characteristic setting of the Lord’s prayer by the Czech composer Leoš Janáček and a choral suite drawn from The Armed Man, which the Welsh composer Karl Jenkins wrote for the Royal Armouries Museum in 1999.

The choir is joined by guest soloists, harp, percussion and organ for this wonderful evening of 20th century choral music.
