Petworth Festival: Aurora Percussion Duo

Described as ‘superb’ by the Financial Times and extraordinary’ by Classical Source, the Aurora Percussion Duo produce adrenaline-fuelled concert performances which are visually spectacular, and physically demanding, all presented with the artistry of dedicated chamber musicians.

Delia Stevens and Le Yu delve into a repertoire dominated by the marimba, and as ‘sound explorers of the natural world’ explore the musical application of wood and wooden instruments. Their sonic palette ranges from Liszt’s sublime Murmurs in the Forest, through Respighi’s exuberant Pines of Rome to Ivan Trevino’s irresistibly groovy music for acoustic guitar (struck by wooden chopsticks) Seesaw.

The duo’s arrangements and classic percussion works – all dedicated to the forest – are segued by improvisatory compositions by Delia Stevens, exploring soundscapes such as music for seeds, leaves, paper and logs.
