The festival opens with a truly special night featuring the finest of this country’s elite vocal ensembles – Tenebrae, directed by Nigel Short.
Described as ‘phenomenal’ (The Times) and ‘devastatingly beautiful’ (Gramophone) the award-winning Tenebrae is unequalled in both its passion and precision, and they bring to the festival a programme featuring the music of the Tudor era’s greatest geniuses Thomas Tallis and William Byrd, together with their lesser-known but no less remarkable contemporaries, John Mundy and Robert White.
An absolute feast for the ear.
