Read a review.

This is the fifth in a new music series.

An exciting opportunity to hear James Lisney perform Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations Op. 120 on Portsmouth’s best Steinway piano.

Portsmouth is excited to welcome concert pianist James Lisney to its Menuhin Room for a complete performance of Beethoven’s Diabelli variations. Since his Wigmore Hall debut in 1986, James has enjoyed a career as one of our finest pianists. His recordings and performances continue to attract critical acclaim as does his particular attention to the music of Beethoven and Schubert. James has performed with major orchestras and has also held residencies at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Leipzig Gewandhaus, and Carnegie Recital Hall in New York. Find out about James.

Tickets are £17.50. They may also be paid for on the door (cash/card) by reservation – if you are not pre-booking online, please contact Andrew McVittie saying how many seats you would like to reserve so that he can plan seating, etc.

This is a one-hour performance (no interval). Afterwards, James will also be giving a masterclass for local musicians at 2.15pm. Concert-goers may also attend this masterclass as part of the ticket price. The Lily & Lime Cafe will be open throughout for light refreshments.
