The Renaissance Choir: “Byrd Song” – Four centuries of choral music, from William Byrd to Roderick Williams

Read preview notes and a review.

Time for something completely different? Two hours of dream-time music to chill out to, to relax you and to take you to a calmer place in your mind.

The gentle music of Eric Whitacre sits alongside some of William Byrd’s greatest choral music. John Cage gets a look-in too, with a Zen-inspired work of inner peace.

The eclectic programme features folk songs from the UK, showcasing some of this choir’s finest voices. Also included is Britten’s “Five Flower Songs”, considered too challenging by many choirs. These are beautiful evocations of spring and summer.
