The Spirit of Music Festival: Schubert String Quartet

Sara Deborah Timossi, artistic director of the festival, who will be leading the ensemble, has a long-standing connection with the work. ‘It is’, she says, ‘the most positive of all of Schubert’s works, and brims with sunshine, love, happiness, longing and passion.’ She goes on to describe the music as ‘lush, rich, intimate and full of great melodies and sensitive harmonies’.

The ensemble further includes Catherine Lett (violin), Suzanne Evans (viola), Helen Downham (cello) and Jessica Garner (cello). All players are based in the area, and have impressive professional experience, performing with orchestras like the London Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham SO and Bournemouth SO, The English Consort, Garsington and Nevill Holt Opera to the big West End shows and tours with Elton John and Sheridan Smith, as well as teaching at Trinity Junior College, Bedales and the Menuhin School.

Entrance to the concert is free and everyone is welcome, and the festival ask for a donation equivalent to the price of a ticket wherever possible. Refreshments will be available before the start of the concert. What would be a better way to spend a relaxed Sunday afternoon – beautiful music, a drink and hopefully lots of sunshine!
