Sat 9th – Sun 10th Apr, 9am-6pm
After an enforced break from making music together, the Cello Weekend is back! This weekend is a two-day participatory workshop for cellists, regardless of age of ability level, to come and play!
Enjoy playing in a full cello orchestra, cello chamber music, cello masterclasses in the University Chapel (with plenty of space and fresh air), and to round off the experience enjoy sharing our live (and streamed) concert as a final hurrah on Sunday afternoon at 4pm.
Music is arranged to suit participants’ individual levels, and whether you want to develop your performing, skills, technique, or simply enjoy playing with others, this will be a remarkable weekend of music-making.
Music features arrangements of popular hits to Bach to contemporary ‘gamified’ music by Rebecca Askew, a bespoke piece written by the award-winning young Greek composer Pyrros Marmatakis, and a special solo appearance by the Gypsy Jazz violinist Duane Padilla from Hawaii.
Participant Cost: £75 / £60 students. Contact the University.
