New music appreciation course by Angela Zanders at New Park

Now that we can once again enjoy live classical music after so many cancelled concerts and events due to the pandemic, concert pianist and music lecturer Angela Zanders will be running a new music appreciation course to help those who would like to know more about classical music.

The course, held at the New Park Centre in Chichester, is entitled “The Story of Classical Music in England” and will take place on Tuesday mornings starting on April 26th.

What kind of music was performed at the Tudor court of Henry VIII? What attracted Handel, Haydn and Mendelssohn to the English musical scene? How did the English folksong revival inspire composers from the 20th century? These and many other questions will be explored by Angela as she takes us through the fascinating story of music in England. Download the poster.

“My passion is to bring alive the world of classical music for those with little or no knowledge of the subject. I have been teaching Music Appreciation for over 30 years and love to see the pleasure and satisfaction people get from knowing more about the background to their favourite pieces of music.”

Angela illustrates her talks with PowerPoint slides, music videos and demonstrations at the piano, and tea and coffee are available during the break.

The new 10-week course begins on Tuesday 26th April 10am – 12pm and the course fee is £120. For more information and to enrol, please contact Angela on tel: 07582 537123. Email: Angela’s website is
