Alex Dichmont, Director of Music at Westbourne House School near Chichester, has launched a new children’s orchestra.
This initiative is aimed at primary school children in the local area who would otherwise not have the chance to play in such a group.
The orchestra will meet most Saturday mornings during term time from 10.00 until 11.30am. Children from Year 3 to Year 6 who play any orchestral string, wind or brass instrument with a minimum standard of approximately Grade 1 are welcome. Some choral singing will be included in the morning’s activities too if there’s sufficient demand. There will be no charge for this activity and it is hoped that children will be able to attend most of the term’s sessions.
