Hampshire Recorder Sinfonia is a 40-strong orchestra featuring seven sizes of recorder from the tiny sopranino to the massive contrabass. Its Music Director and Conductor is Christopher Burgess.
Players are drawn from Hampshire and West Sussex and meet for rehearsals in Havant and Winchester, giving three or four concerts a year, mainly in Hampshire but also participating in the annual Festival of Chichester. The repertoire ranges from early to modern music and includes compositions specially written for HRS. The orchestra has recorded three CDs and in 2020 will be celebrating 30 years of concerts.
