As well as its regular and special services, Portsmouth (Anglican) Cathedral is home to a number of events and concerts throughout the year, including music and exhibitions.
At Portsmouth Cathedral you will find a much-acclaimed Cathedral Choir of men and boys, Cantate (a choir which features our Girl Choristers as well as an opportunity for newly changed voices to continue singing); a close harmony group (formed from our Choral Scholars, see the video below for an idea of what a typical year is like), Cathedral Consort (mixed adults); superb Organ playing by our resident team of musicians, Jazz and a myriad of groups and orchestras performing concerts.
Our Cathedral Sing programme seeks to work with as many young people in our city and diocese to spread our passion for singing. Our newest project ‘Choir Church’ aims to found a new congregation through the power of music and singing at St James’ Church, Milton.
Music is at the heart of the Cathedral’s many cathedral and diocesan responsibilities and the Music Department plays as full a role as possible in this regard.
