Portsmouth Light Orchestra

Portsmouth Light Orchestra is an amateur orchestra that started in 1936. It performs concerts supporting charities as well as funding the orchestra’s expenses.

There are about 32 members and we meet weekly on Tuesday evenings to rehearse and enjoy making music. As the title of the orchestra suggests, we play a variety of light and classical music.

We perform concerts for charitable events and other good causes. Our aim is to enable players of varying ages and standards to play and enjoy music once a week in a friendly and relaxed environment. We rehearse diligently in preparation for our concerts and gain much pleasure from this experience.
