Concerts in the Menuhin Room at Portsmouth Central Library, organised by Andrew McVittie.

After a successful campaign in late 2023 to re-open Portsmouth’s Menuhin Room and bring back its spectacular Steinway D Model Piano into operation, a new series of concerts will shortly be available for booking. These Saturday lunchtime events will offer a mix of performances featuring well-loved local musicians but also recitals given by a number of distinguished pianists more often seen in London concert halls.

The Menuhin Room offers an opportunity for music-lovers to enjoy high quality music recitals in a welcoming atmosphere – much akin to a friendly music club. The venue only accommodates 100 people and provides an opportunity to listen to music “close up” including the Model D Steinway piano. Many of the “regulars” also enjoy a chance to socialise before and after and there are often opportunities to meet with the performers informally after their recitals.
